The Early Childhood Education diploma program prepares students to become teachers of young children in a variety of early childhood development settings.

There are a number of ways to complete this program. For more information please read the following:

E.C.E. Regular Stream (2 years)
Students in the regular stream will take two years (full time) to complete the requirements for the E.C.E. diploma. The program includes both theoretical and practical courses. Practice teaching in real settings is an important component of this program, and students will complete a total of 21 weeks of practice teaching in a variety of centres.

The Algonquin College ECE program has an articulation agreement with Carleton University whereby ECE graduates may apply to the Child Studies Program and upon acceptance into the program will receive one year of credit towards their degree.

The Algonquin College ECE program has an articulation agreement with Ottawa University's Primary/Junior Education program whereby the university has designated ten seats in the program for Algonquin ECE graduates who have their university degree (with the grade point average required for teachers' college).
