Doug Alexander, B.Sc., R.M.T.

Doug has been a Massage Therapist for 20 years.  Over that time he has practiced in many settings as well as contributed to literature in the

profession.  An author of over 20 papers on Massage Therapy, he also

edits the Ontario Massage Therapists' Association, Journal of Soft Tissue Manipulation.  Doug has represented the profession at the University of

Western Ontario's review of Whiplash Associated Disorders and at the

American Massage Therapy's Research Foundation's Research

Think Tank. Doug has presented at the Upledger Institute's Beyond the

Dura as well as taught for the American Back Society and the Physical

Medicine Research Foundation.

Doug's current interests include helping prepare the Algonquin

Massage Therapy Students for an exciting and healthy career in

Massage Therapy, organizing Algonquin's Outreach Program to

Developmentally Handicapped Students, Varsity Athletes at

Carleton University, adults with Acquired Brain Injury, labouring

mothers and then their babies at the Ottawa Hospital, and a variety

of other groups in various settings around Ottawa. 


Doug is also coordinating an innovative selection of Continuing Education Offerings at Algonquin for Massage Therapists and related professionals.


Fadi Ayoub, B.Sc., M.Sc.

Fadi teaches Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology in the Massage

Therapy Program.  Born and raised in Ottawa, he left for Montreal in

1989 to attend McGill University.  After receiving his B.Sc., he returned

to Ottawa to pursue a Master's degree in Neurobiology at the

University of Ottawa. 

His teaching career began in the University of Ottawa cadaver lab, helping medical and nursing students to understand the complexities of the human

body.  Fadi joined the massage therapy team at Algonquin in 2001.

His spare time is filled with flying frisbees and poker games. 


Ian Dolmage, R.M.T.

 

Ian has been a massage therapist since 1989 and worked in private practice for 9 years. In 1995, he initiated the massage therapy program at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology and in 1998 became a full time professor at Algonquin College. During this time, he created a clinical manual known as Student’s Guide to PNF Stretching and co-authored MIRL’s Guide to Joint Mobilization, both of which are published text books. As a massage therapy educator, his main teaching areas include assessment and treatment theory and the integration of these areas into lab and clinical practice.

 He has also published articles in The Body Politic and The Journal of Soft Tissue Manipulation. These articles include “Gaining Ownership,” which addresses chronic clinical weakness in the massage profession, “The Pressure Gradient System” which helps student therapists develop intelligent touch during soft tissue manipulation and “Universal Terminology” which address the confusion around the multiple PNF stretching terminologies.



Dave Eibner, R.M.T.

Dave graduated from Kikkawa College in 1996.  Subsequently he has

taken a number of different workshops including Active Release

Technique, Muscle Energy Technique, and Infant Massage Instruction. 

He has since worked in a variety of settings including chiropractic & rehabilitative centers and massage therapy clinics – each providing

unique challenges and opportunities to grow. 

An equal love of doing and teaching led him to landing a part time teaching position in 1998 with the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (Toronto).  He worked at CCMH and in private practice until being hired at Algonquin College in 2001 as a sessional professor.  The academic year

2003-04 finds him in his first year, instructing in terms one and two of the Massage Therapy Program as a full-time professor.

Pam Fitch, B.A., R.M.T.

Pam joined Algonquin's Massage Therapy Program as a full-time professor in 2003, after 2 winters as a part-time instructor. Co-teaching the 3rd year clinical studies with Doug Alexander, she also has contact with each of the other 2 years through her courses in Professional Growth and Advanced Communication. Pam has been a practicing massage therapist for almost 20 years and has contributed widely to the profession as a writer, teacher, facilitator, particularly in the area of women's health. She writes for a variety of massage publications and has given talks and seminars across North America on massage therapy and trauma, breast massage and women’s health.

Marvin Mohring, B.Sc., R.M.T.

Marvin entered the profession of Massage Therapy in 1994 from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy.  He had worked as a Kinesiologist conducting Functional Ability Evaluations and Work Hardening Programs after graduating with a Bachelor of Science (Honours Kinesiology) from the Applied Health Sciences Program, University of Waterloo.  He maintained a Massage Therapy practice in Thunder Bay, Ontario prior to joining Algonquin College in 1999.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Massage Therapist Association from 1994 – 2000, serving as President for 5 years.

Marvin loves supporting the discovery of the massage experience for students.  He currently teaches throughout the levels of the program and is the Academic Coordinator.
