This project is designed to assist Foreign Trained Nurses in meeting professional educational requirements deemed as necessary by the College of Nurses of Ontario to practice in the health care sector in Ontario. The program provides the Foreign Trained Nurse the opportunity to remain in the health care field, receive a recognized education, and be prepared for employment at an appropriate level of care suited to their skills and education.
This multi-leveled program allows Foreign Trained Nurses to challenge the course content in one of three Health Care programs related to nursing practice: Personal Support Worker, Practical Nurse and Baccalaureate in Nursing. Once successful the Nurse will obtain the corresponding certificate, diploma or degree.
This program offers the Foreign Trained Nurse language courses specific to the health care sector.
The program is designed for the Foreign Trained Nurse who is:
- An Ontario permanent resident (Canadian citizen, Landed Immigrant, Convention Refugee)
- Deemed by the College of Nurses of Ontario as a candidate for the program, who will be eligible, following proof of upgrading skills (nursing or language), to write the Canadian licensing exam for nurses
