Welcome to the Massage Therapy program homepage, please use the menu above to findout more about the program.

This three-year advanced diploma program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide safe, effective, and ethical care at an entry level of practice that meets the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics identified by the College of Massage Therapists. Graduates from the program are able to sit the provincial licensing examinations.

Students develop specialized knowledge, skills, and judgement for conducting a systematic client assessment; formulating a comprehensive and clinical impression, developing a specific treatment plan, performing safe, competent, and comprehensive massage therapy; and evaluating the outcome, all in consultation with the client or guardian. Major emphasis is placed on the development of effective interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, and decision making, while maintaining a legal and ethical consciousness.

Using an integrative outcome-based learning approach, students progress through first year, in which they acquire basic, scientific and professional knowledge to practise massage techniques on their peers within the laboratory setting, to their final year where the emphasis is placed on meeting the needs of individuals of all ages with complex health challenges. Practice occurs in the college's public clinic and in supervised field experiences.
