Algonquin Hosts Skills Agenda Roundtable Discussion

Morris Uremovich, Executive Dean, Faculty of Technology and Trades for Algonquin College (standing far right) welcomes more than 100 attendees to Algonquin College for a Skills Agenda Roundtable Discussion on November 24, 2006. 

Attendees included construction-sector industry leaders, government officials and senior Algonquin College administrators such as: John-Paul Tapp, Dean of Algonquin College’s School of Transportation and Building Trades; Michel de Jocas, Partner, Educational Consulting Services Corp.; Francine Lecoupe, Educational Consulting Services Corp. , the Honourable John Baird, MP Ottawa West – Nepean and President of the Treasury Board, the Honourable Jim Watson, MPP Ottawa West – Nepean, Robert Gillett, President of Algonquin College; and David Wallace, Chair, Algonquin College Board of Governors.

The aim of this discussion was to help facilitate a planned approach to meeting the construction community’s strategic staffing and development needs through the creation of a state-of-the-art teaching, applied research and application training centre.
