Paul West
Program Coordinator

Paul West has been involved in the animation industry for 18 years. He's worked on many feature film productions with major studios including Warner Brothers, Kroyer Films, Don Bluth and Disney. Some of the television shows he's worked on includes: The Racoons, Pink Panther, Fish Police, Monster Force, Flash Gordon, Ned's Newt  and Jacob Two Two - just to name a few.

Neil Hunter
Program Coordinator

Neil Hunter is a 20 year veteran of the animation industry. He has been involved in every aspect of the field from running his own business to working in a studio and has held most positions including senior animator, storyboard artist, story editor, designer, director and creative/associate producer. Neil has worked on many award-winning shows and has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award.

Anne Morgan
Faculty

Anne's background includes a BSc (Hons) in Kinesiology. With her scientific understanding of movement, Anne pursued a classical training in Life Drawing in London, England and has her work in private collections in Britain, Europe, South Africa and North America. She also has been a co-owner of a Graphics firm for a number of years.

Anne has been at Algonquin College since 1980 and in the Animation Program since 1990. With these skills she has been able to develop a Life Drawing Program to meet the needs of Animation students based on the classical approach.

Derek Bond

Derek has been a professional animator for over 15 years. He has had the pleasure of working as a key animator, overseas supervisor, storyboard artist and assistant director on many high quality animated programs.

Derek has animated on shows such as Tiny Toons for Warner Bros., A Pup Named Scooby Doo and Pirates of Darkwater for Hanna-Barbera, Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, Goof Troop and Aladdin for Walt Disney Television and most recently overseeing the production of Ripping Friends for Spumco (John Kricfalusi).

Derek was assistant director on John K’s Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon.

Tom Crook

Tom graduated with honours from the Algonquin College Animation Program and has been teaching part time for over six years.

He is an experienced layout supervisor with credits such as Timothy Tweedle and Franklin’s Magic Christmas and as a layout artist on TV series’ such as Redwall, Robo Roach, Undergrads and many others. Tom has also designed locations for several TV series commercials, Christmas specials and he has been a layout and posing supervisor for Dynomight cartoons.

Mark Douthwright

Hailing from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Mark went to school for fine arts in Newfoundland before working in the animation field. It was there he discovered his love for photography, film and animation. After coming to Ontario in 1995, he worked a couple of years in Television doing everything from working camera to designing and setting up lighting, to switching and even assistant director. After graduating from Algonquin's Animation Program in 2000, he worked various positions in animation, such as Digital Background Painter, Layout Artist, Digital Compositing Supervisor, and recently, Flash Animator. His experience in teaching stems from his role of five years as a corporate trainer for new recruits at PIP Animation located here in Ottawa. Given the fast-paced, ever changing nature of digital animation, Mark has always sought out new tools and techniques to share with his students.

Cory Perkins

Cory L Perkins is an Algonquin College Alumni. He graduated with honours from the Animation program in 1997. After a few years of cutting his teeth in the local industry on such television shows as Flying Rhino Jr. High, Hoze Hounds, Franklin the Turtle, Redwall and The Ripping Friends, he returned in 2001 to the Algonquin Animation program as a part time instructor. He hopes to help strengthen the future Algonquin alumni's place in the ever changing and competitive field of animation.

Jeff Amey

Jeff graduated with honours from the 3-Year Classical Animation
Program at Sheridan College in 1998. Since then, he as been working in the animation industry and has a wide range of experience including character design, posing, supervising, storyboards, assistant directing and overseas animation supervision. He has also been a part of many different productions such as Disney's The Enchanted Christmas, Anthony Ant, Watership Down, For Better or For Worse, Mission Hill, The Undergrads, The Oblongs, King, The Ripping Friends, and Ren and Stimpy's Adult Party Cartoon.
Jeff continues to freelance in the animation industry while teaching
part-time at Algonquin.

Dev Ramsaran

Dev has been in the world of animation for over 30 years. He won first prize at the 1978 Canadian Student Film festival with “Madhouse Rag”. Since then Dev has worked as an animator, animation director, overseas animation supervisor, sheet director, storyboards and storyboard supervisor to name a few.

He has had rickety animation desks in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Zagreb, Athens, Taipei, Seoul and Shanghai working for companies such as Warner Bros., Hanna-Barbera, DIC, Fred Wolf Films and Cartoon Pizza.

He has supervised animators on shows such as Animaniacs, Tazmania, Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman, Popeye, Yogi Bear, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many others.
Dev has received recognition three times from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his contributions to the multiple Emmy Award winning Arthur TV series.
