What are the admission requirements for Graphic Design?
Layout Test
- Select a jewelry Business advertisement from the yellow pages.
- Recreate (draw) the ad to a new size of 6" wide x 9" high on an 8½" x 11" piece of white illustration board (available from any art supply store).
- In your new layout, include all of the text and company logo from the original ad.
- Using pencil, draw any piece of jewelry (watch, ring, etc.) and include it in your new ad.
- Tape a copy of the original yellow pages ad to the back of your board.
Drawing test
- Draw a 6" x 9" self-portrait on an 8½" x 11" piece of white illustration board. It is preferable if the portrait is drawn using a mirror rather than a photo.
- Tape a recent photo of yourself to the back of the board.
A portfolio of your best work
A portfolio is a sampling of your best pieces of art and design. The portfolio should demonstrate creativity, neatness and how you have developed your ideas. The portfolio should also demonstrate your "hand skills" and how well you can sketch your ideas. This is more important than showing us a completed computer graphic. Plagiarism is not tolerated! Applicants who have submitted work which is not their own, will not be accepted to the program.
