
Garry Carter is the program Coordinator and academic advisor to students enrolled in the photography program. He brings over 15 years of practical experience in commercial advertising photography to the classroom and studio. He is the founding member of the Ottawa Chapter of (CAPIC) The Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communication. Memberships also include (PMA), Photo Marketing Association International and (PIEA), Photo Imaging Education Association.

Denine Wrixon is a full time professor of photography at Algonquin College and has been teaching for 5 years. Denine started freelancing in 1994 and graduated from Algonquin College in 1996.
Her photography career covers many aspects of the industry, from live concert photography and professional sports, to portrait and wedding coverage, with a specialty in portraiture. A member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) since 2005 and Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPO) since 1995, she teaches Advanced Digital Imaging and Advanced Camera & Lighting Techniques.

Jason Machinski is an instructor in the photography program. Jason is a graduate of the Algonquin Photography Program and has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University. He is the owner of both a wedding and commercial photography studio. As a working photographer he brings current work experience to both the classroom and studio.

Andrew Balfour is a graduate of the Algonquin Photography program & has been teaching for the last 3 years. Andrew has been a professional photographer for 23 years & started his own portrait studio 16 years ago. He specializes in photographs of people & events for corporations, government, and magazines. Jonathon Harrington is a recent addition to the Algonquin faculty, but not the Photography program. Mr. Harrington is a graduate ('98) of the Algonquin photography program and brings with him years of experience from working with Ottawa’s one-time-giant graphic software company Corel; he is also very familiar with many brands & models of cameras from working at Ottawa’s professional camera and photographic supplies store, the Focus Centre (now Henry’s). He currently owns and shoots with his own photography company, with his business partner, another Algonquin photography program graduate. |

Beaty Popescu teaches 'Visual Perception' in the photography program. Ms. Popescu has been a practicing visual artist since 1980 with a strong exhibition history, as well an extensive teaching background including a 10 year teaching career in the Fine Art Department of Memorial University. Her postgraduate studies in Analytical Psychology further inform her studio practice as well as her approach to teaching.

Fred Sebastian graduated from Algonquin College's Commercial Art/Graphic Design program and embarked upon a career as an award-winning Illustrator and Graphic Designer within the Graphic Design Industry. His work has been published throughout the world most notably in publications like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Canadian Living, and through Cartoonists and Writer's Syndicate and Artizans. Sebastian's work is considered to be of cultural significance and; his originals were acquired by The Library & Archives of Canada where they reside within the permanent collection. ?Fred Sebastian graduated from Carleton's Art History Program with Distinction and was awarded the President's Medal. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa's Baccalaureate of Education. |

Randy Harquail has been a photographer for over 25 years, starting as an assistant in a portrait and wedding to studio to working for an advertising agency as head photographer and starting his own corporate and communications photography business in 1992. Member of CAPIC since 1987, he has served on both local and national boards, and is a former National President of CAPIC. Randy is teaching Entrepreneurship at Algonquin College.
