Quite simply, one of the most informative and well taught courses at Algonquin; the Scriptwriting Program is for anyone who dares to believe that they have what it takes to be a writer.

Algonquin College’s Dramatic Scriptwriting Program taught me how to structure and format a script for any medium. After I graduated in 2002, I was able to secure a few writing contracts, thanks in great part to the portfolio I’d built up. Now, I’m well on my way. I feel like I have the knowledge and the tools to lead a successful career as a writer in the film, television and theatre industry.

The Algonquin Scriptwriting, program allowed me the opportunity to meet not only industry professionals, but talented, likeminded writers with the same goals, and drive to succeed as myself. Writers I can bounce ideas off, and work together with in order to make my work as good as it possibly can be.

Class of 2003
I’ve learned the foundations of writing for theatre, television, cinema, and how to get my scripts produced. The program gave me the opportunity to have one of my plays read at the National Arts Center and introduced me to many important people in the business.
Anna Mariani Carneiro Leão
Without this program I wouldn't be where I am today, and my future and its possibilities wouldn't have been as clear. I brag about how great the experience was when people acknowledge the strength of my writing skills. As talented as anyone is, they need guidance.
