School Board Officials Attend Algonquin College Classes

Algonquin College and local school boards joined forces today to hold a new event called the Algonquin College Group of Seven. The school board representatives consisting of Directors, Superintendents, Secondary School Principals, Guidance Counsellors, Grade 7 and 8 Principals, Technology Teachers and Student Success Specialists gained valuable College experiences as they sat in on classes and familiarized themselves with College life. |

Algonquin College Foundation Receives Purchasing Management Association of Canada Donation

The Algonquin College Foundation received a donation of $129,000 from the current and past Ottawa District members of the Ontario Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (OIPMAC). This donation includes matched funds from the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund and will go towards an endowed bursary for students in Algonquin College’s e-Business Supply Chain Management (eSCM) Applied Degree Program.

Ottawa girls make their own movies at the Women in Media Foundation Inc. Girls’ Television and New Media Camp

For two weeks this summer the Women in Media Foundation (WIMF) is hosting a summer day camp at Algonquin College in the Nation’s Capital. The Girls’ Television and New Media Camp gives teenage girls a unique chance to work as camera operators, lighting and audio technicians and video tape editors as they script, shoot and edit their own videos. |

Algonquin College Foundation to Receive Toyota Donation

The Algonquin College Foundation and the College’s Transportation Technology Centre will receive a donation from three Ottawa New Car Dealer Association Toyota dealership members. Donations from Tony Graham of Tony Graham Lexus Toyota, Michel Parent of Bel-Air Lexus Toyota and Joe Mendes of Mendes Toyota will total $75,000 and will go to the Foundation’s Transportation Technology Campaign. |

Rise and Shine, it’s Bloomin’ Time: Algonquin College Annual Spring Garden Show

Algonquin College invites the media as well as the general public to its 27th annual spring garden display showcasing the amazing talents of its second-year horticulture students. With more than 30 species of plants and more than 5,000 bulbs in bloom, the greenhouses are an excellent location to conduct interviews, televise the weather, or capture screenshots. This year’s theme for the display: “Rise and shine, it’s bloomin’ time.” |
