Internationally trained individuals face many challenges when attempting to find meaningful employment related to their field. As a result, STEP has been designed to offer a range of support, depending on the needs of the client. STEP provides a one-stop access to a network of support for clients in the area of settlement support, counseling services, academic and career guidance, and valuable mentoring relationships.
Settlement Services -- A range of settlement services are provided by Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO)
Academic and Employment Guidance -- Services are available to help clients in the following areas:
Employment Planning and Preparation Services -- Meet one-on-one with a STEP Liaison Officer
Licensing advice -- Internationally trained individuals are provided with information on licensing and accreditation in their profession. Credential assesment with WES Mentoring -- Mentors are individuals who volunteer their time to share their experiences working as professionals in Canada. In addition to this learning experience, mentors may also provide our clients a valuable link to employment networks.
