Algonquin College electronic directory reproduces much of the same information now appearing in the College's printed directory. Some data fields (elements of each person's information) are accessible only by computers on the College's network; other fields a re available for both on-campus and general off-campus access.

Although all computing platforms, including Macs, DOS/Windows, VMS, UNIX, and others, may utilize special electronic phone book software, the best way to access the directory is with the World Wide Web, using Netscape (see Addendum: About Algonquin College Web and Netscape Software): On the Web:
* First, connect to Algonquin College home Web page at http://www.algonquincollege.com/
* Then choose "Services" > "Staff" > "Electronic Phonebook"
This takes you to the main query page, where you can find directory information about the person you need to contact (see following section); here, you may also select options to call up a help page.
On the directory's main query page, using either uppercase or lowercase letters, type in the name of the person you want to contact in the "Person's Name" field and click on the search button. (If you have a small-size computer screen, you may need to sc roll or page down to reach the search button.) If you know the full name of the person, type that in; if you do not know the full name or exact spelling, you can still locate the person you seek. Simply type in the first few (at least one) letters of the last name fol lowed by an asterisk (*). This option will display the records of all the people whose names contain those first few letters. You may also perform your search using other criteria, such as job title, department, phone extension, postal address, or office location.

Examples:
va?e?a Matches any characters in the 3rd and 5th positions. var* c* Matches every name with words starting by var AND by c.
