Learn the basics of construction
The Building Construction Technician program at Algonquin College is ideal for students who are interested in construction, but are unsure which specific area to pursue. This program provides learning experiences in many areas, including framing/carpentry, design, layout, and estimating.
Learn a combination of theory and hands-on skills
Students benefit from a combination of classroom and hands-on shop work, learn a blend of traditional carpentry skills and newer technologies (theodolites, AutoCAD), and work on both individual and group projects. The program emphasizes job skills such as being on time, being responsible and doing your share of the work.
Modern, state-of-the-art facilities
The Building Construction Technician Program is located in the newly constructed, LEED®Platinum Certified Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE).
