Advanced Standing

Transition, bridging or articulation into the degree program

Students may receive advanced standing so they enter the degree program in either the second or third year of study, depending on their previous education and experience:

Second Year Entry:

(6 semesters of study to complete, including two co-op semesters.)

Third Year Entry:

(4 semesters of study to complete, including one co-op semester.)

Applicants with degrees or degree level courses from Canadian institutions empowered to award degrees and from other degree granting institutions recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

  • To receive a course credit, a minimum grade of C (65%) is required.
  • Official transcripts and course descriptions/outlines must be presented with the application for credit recognition.

Applicants with degrees or degree level courses from countries other than Canada or from postsecondary institutions not recognized by the MTCU must have their degrees evaluated by a recognized Canadian public or private institution that specializes in the evaluation of international degree programs.

Laddering into the Bachelor of Building Science program

Based on your academic background, if you are looking to apply directly to the second year of this program apply for the Bachelor of Building Science 3-Year Bridging Program.

Or, if your academic background qualifies you to enter directly into the third year of this program apply for the Bachelor of Building Science 2-Year Bridging Program.
