Mission: Student Links is an initiative of Community Living Ontario that works with high school students with varying intellectual disabilities to assist them in exploring their interests and developing skills to prepare for the future. Student Links is a mentoring program where we partner these students with members of their community who share a common interest and can help the students learn new skills and develop socially valued roles where they can contribute to their community.

Volunteer Position Description: Student Links is looking for outgoing, creative, and responsible individuals who have a passion for animation and design to work one on one with a high school student who shares your passion to create!

Our volunteers have the opportunity to positively contribute to their community and make a big impact in a student’s life by acting as their mentor. This can take the form of showing the student around your program and classes, working on an animation/design project together, and helping the student to develop their skills and advance in their capabilities, and touring animation studios and attending events together in the city.

How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you? Becoming a mentor allows you to:
• Share something you are passionate about
• Empower students to make decisions about what’s possible for their future
• Challenge yourself and grow in unexpected ways
• Teach a student something new
• Be a role model
• Contribute to a more inclusive community

Time commitments are flexible as is the duration of your involvement throughout the year.

If you are a creative and considerate individual who wants to make a positive impact in your community and have the skills to teach to a young student, please apply today!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Police Record Check

How to Apply: If interested, please contact Siobhan Costelloe at (613) 277-0371 or via e-mail at scostelloe@communitylivingontario.ca .
