Getting started on your website conversion

The conversion of your current website content to the WordPress platform allows us the opportunity to update and optimize your site’s architecture (navigation), content, design and functionality, and align them with the College’s and your departmental goals.

To ensure that each conversion results in an improved site and user experience, it is important that we follow a series of steps in its creation and implementation. Once you’ve completed the initial steps, you will be informed of when your particular site can be scheduled into production.

1. Strategy Phase

Our account team will meet with you to discuss your website strategy, which is based on your objectives, challenges, opportunities, needs and required functionality. Afterwards, our internal team meets to review your creative brief and brainstorms technical requirements/challenges and a proposed internet architecture (IA) and content outline. You may be required to provide any additional/new content that is beyond what is currently on your website. This stage takes approximately 13 days and involves the following:

  • Initial Client Meeting
  • Initial Research
  • Draft Brief (see brief template or fill out our online creative brief)
  • Client Review
  • Initial IA
  • Initial Wireframes
  • Internal Brainstorm
  • Identify Training

2. Design & Content Stage

Our designer and writer will review your brief and brainstorm how the current templates will work to meet your site’s objectives. Proposed templates and/or wireframes are presented to you for feedback and approval, with revisions made as necessary. This stage takes approximately 16 days and involves the following:

  • Team Briefing
  • Internal Approval
  • Finalize IA
  • Finalize Wireframe
  • Internal Revision
  • Client Presentation & Review
  • Client Approval
  • Content & Asset Migration
  • Content Development
  • Content Population
  • Stakeholder Training

3. Development Phase

Our writer develops a webscript based on the approved content outline and template design. This proposed webscript is presented to you for feedback and approval, with revisions made if necessary. Your site is created and the content populated according to previously approved IA, design, content and functionality

This stage takes approximately 24 days and involves the following:

  • Site Build on Development Server
  • Custom Development
  • Content Acquisition & Development
  • Client Review & Approval
  • Content Migration
  • Client Presentation
  • Client Review & Approval

4. Production Phase

Our team will test the site for functionality, speed and links to ensure all is in working order. This stage takes approximately 5 days and involves the following:

  • Backup Old Site Name
  • Remove Old Site from Server
  • Upload New Site to Server
  • Redirect Traffic
  • Test New Site

5. Post-Production Phase

After a final check, the site is launched. This stage takes approximately 5 days and involves the following:

  • Communications
  • Support
  • Stakeholder Training
  • Deliver Project Closure Report
  • Project Audit
  • Project Review
