Why are you climbing Kilimanjaro?
Originally, I had no intention of climbing anything, but one day my parents came home late and said that I was signed up for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. My initial reaction was simply “ok” and then after further details I realized we were climbing for a cause; I was going to climb a mountain for my idol, my grandmother Johnston. We started hiking and I found a rush through being outside and escaping the world. This is a new adventure and something I will remember for the rest of my life.
What are your personal goals related to the climb?
I wish to reach the highest peak and adjust to washing my hair in a wash basin.
What’s the funniest/strangest thing that’s ever happened to you?
I taught my pony to play tag.
Tell us about an accomplishment that you’re proud of.
Getting into Ryerson University as there were over 600 applicants in the fashion design program and I was one of 80 chosen.
Is there something significant in your life that you’ve overcome?
Dealing with the loss of my grandmother to cancer was one of the toughest things in my life that I had to deal with. I acquired many traits from her, everything from looks to interests to actions; she is the person I have always looked up to and the one that I will continue to fight for.
