Small World Big Picture and Sustainability

Sustainability is a foundational pillar of Small World Big Picture projects. In transcending borders and affecting our local, national and global communities, sustainability is clear indication of the interconnectedness of our modern world.

The importance of sustainability to Tanzania and SWBP Africa 2009 is apparent in a number of ways, for example:

  • Global warming could melt “the Snows of Kilimanjaro” within the next 10 years;

  • The importance of biodiversity and conserving natural habitats is evident in an excursion through Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park;

  • There are numerous lessens we can learn as individual Canadians and as a country about sustainability from Tanzania and Tanzanian people.
