The Algonquin Innovations program is designed to establish projects for Algonquin College faculty,staff and students to engage in joint applied research and innovation activities with business, industry and community partners. Applications are open to faculty, staff, students and external partners.

Faculty and staff led projects:

• are typically about one year in length
• may qualify for maximum funding of $10,000 from Algonquin Innovations
  require a minimum of $2,500 contribution from the partner company or organization
• focus on a specific research or innovation problem which is likely to be commercialized by the business or industry, or implemented for the benefit of the community or non-profit partner
• develop the research capability of the lead researcher or research team, and enhance the reputation of Algonquin College in the area of research and innovation

Student led projects:

• are typically about 4 to 6 months in length
• may qualify for a maximum funding of $4,000 from Algonquin Innovations
• require a minimum of $1,000 from the partner company or organization
• involve a student group of 3 to 5 members and a faculty advisor
• focus on investigation of feasibility, or reduction of risk, of planned future research, innovation or commercialization projects
• develop the employability skills of the students participants and enhance the reputation of Algonquin College in the area of research and innovation

Algonquin Innovations is part of the Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation and is funded in part by the Ontario Research Commercialization Program of the Ministry of Research and Innovation.
