Shirley Westeinde, Chair

Shirley Westeinde is the Chair of the Westeinde Group of Companies. They specialize in Development, Property Management, Leasing and Green Building Design and Development.  She is a graduate of the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, Ontario and the University of Western Ontario. Shirley worked first in the nursing field before staying home to raise a family.  Since 1978 Shirley and her husband have changed their focus from a company that specialized in Construction to the Development and Property Management of Projects.   

Shirley is very active in the business community where she is a Director of the Royal Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, the Ottawa Health Research Institute, and Co-Chair of Success by Six.  Shirley is Past Chair of the Canadian Construction Association.

She has received several Awards including the Woman of Distinction Award, the Women’s Business Achievement Award, Toastmaster’s Communication and Leadership Award, the B’nai Brith Canada Award of Merit, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa.

Shirley was re-appointed to the Board in September 2005 and will serve as Chair for the year 2007-08.
