William C.V. Johnson, Vice Chair

William C.V. Johnson is senior counsel with the law firm of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in its Ottawa office. He practices in the area of corporate and commercial law, tax law and succession planning. He is also a Chartered Accountant. He has presented papers, edited books and lectured extensively in his areas of practice. For many years, he has taught in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa the subjects of legal accounting, professional responsibility and ethics. He has also taught an income tax course at Carleton University. He was Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council in the Faculty of Law of Queens University in Kingston and has also served as President of the County of Carleton Law Association and as a Director of Cognos Corporation. He has served extensively in community and professional organizations, including Champions for Children, International String Quartet Association, Friends of Bytown, Thomas More Lawyers Guild, Canadian Foundation for Refugees, Canadian Bar Association (Ontario), Ottawa East Community Association, Estate Planning Council, Montebello Solicitors Conference, Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, Africa Reads and Canadian Mental Health Association.
Mr. Johnson was appointed to the Board of Algonquin College in September 2005. He served as Chair of the Audit Committee from 2005 to 2008 and has served on the Executive Committee since 2005. He has served as Vice Chair of the Board since 2008.
