College Readiness Self-Assessment

Jump to: Student Expectations | Are You College-Ready?

If you are considering post-secondary studies, you must ask yourself how ready you are to participate fully in the college environment. Expectations for students at college are much different from high school, and experience has shown us that simply meeting the academic entry requirements is not enough. Successful students are able to learn independently, follow student conduct guidelines, advocate for themselves, seek out services on their own, and explain what help they need.

Student Expectations

There are a number of CAL services available to support you. As a student at Algonquin College, you are expected to be college-ready and independent in all aspects of daily living. This includes:

  • Attending classes regularly
  • Completing and handing in assignments on time
  • Working cooperatively in groups
  • Managing time effectively
  • Seeking out support services when needed
