Greetings in the name of Jesus from the Christian community at Algonquin College!

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of our part-time Campus Minister, Lorne Likely. His appointment has been made possible through the efforts of the Board of Directors, representing seven denominations (Anglican, Baptist, Christian Reformed, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, and United), our volunteer campus ministers, and the financial support of several  local churches.

We now want to build upon this foundation of ministry and ensure it continues beyond this academic year and to do so we need your financial support.  To date, we have enjoyed contributions from the United Church Presbytery, the Christian Reformed Church, the Presbyterian Church of Canada, and the Ottawa Baptist Association. We are also soliciting individual contributions from members of the Algonquin College community. Now, we are looking to local churches such as yours to assist us in sustaining the good work we have achieved.

We would like to challenge your congregation to make a modest but strategic investment of $500 to $1000. We are also eager to encourage local congregations to support the campus ministry as a mission project. Individuals are also invited to make special offerings for this ministry. All donations should be directed to Algonquin College Campus Ministry, 1385 Woodroffe Avenue, Room P112, Ottawa, ON  K2G 1V6. Cheques should be made payable to Algonquin College Campus Ministry; receipts will be issued by the treasurer.

Representatives of the Algonquin College Campus Ministry would be pleased to make a presentation in person to a denominational or congregational meeting or gathering. To request such a presentation, please contact Professor Jack Wilson, at the college, at 727-4723, ext. 5099.

Ministry among young people in the first years away from home and during the period of their lives when they are training for life-long work, and among new immigrants learning English and gaining skills for the making of contributions to our society is a strategic opportunity. It is our privilege to support Christian staff and students in the challenges they face, and to reach out to all within the college community with the grace of God made known to us in Jesus Christ. Please join us in prayer and in active partnership in the fulfillment of this mission.
