| 1. What is Campus Ministry?
Campus Ministry at Algonquin College seeks to bring a Christian dimensions to college life. This ministry is designed to address such issues such as faith, spiritually, peace, justice, security, technology and science, ethics, and interpersonal and social relationship. The Algonquin College Campus Ministry (ACCM) team will do so by strengthening and supporting the Christian community on campus while respecting and appropriately engaging people of other faiths and worldviews. We seek to welcome all students and staff and aim to enrich their Algonquin experience with appropriate counsel, educational programs, and community events.

| 2. How are members of the Campus Ministry Team different from other counsellors?
All have the same aim - to help students achieve their full potential in becoming useful members of society. The difference tends to be one of emphasis. College Counsellors focus on educational, career, and personal concerns whereas Campus Ministers focus more on spiritual and personal concerns.
Spiritual questions relate to many topics, including purpose in life, self-worth, relationships, values, guilt, death, God, and religion. Campus Minitsters are also on hand to give moral and spiritual support in times of crisis, such as an accident or death. |
3. Who are the members of the Campus Ministry Team?
They are caring men and women with special training in pastoral care, counselling, and theology. They can refer people to agencies and institutions that will provide additional support. At this time, some are members of the clergy of local churches, while others are mature students at the College with formal pastoral care training.
Though maintaining their own religious faith perspective, pastoral care workers are careful not to impose it on those they seek to help. However, they do try to practice and promote those enduring higher values upon which our civilization and educational systems are based - such things as personal integrity, love for one's neighbour, and respect for the rights, beliefs, and traditions of others. |
4. When are Campus Ministry members available?
