New Student Orientation
Welcome to AC Online! To complete your new student orientation, please review our orientation video playlist. These videos will familiarize you with the information you need to get started in AC Online. You can review the videos at any time, but we recommend watching them before you begin your course(s).
Need extra support?
If you need additional support after reviewing our orientation videos, we offer the following options:
- If you are starting your program in September, January, or May, we will be hosting several optional Q&A sessions (via Zoom) during the first week of the term. In the days leading up to the start of term, new students will receive an email invitation to register for a Q&A session.
- If you are not available to attend an optional Q&A session, you are welcome to schedule an individual appointment with your Student Success Specialist. We can help you get started in your course(s) and can answer questions about online studies. Appointments are available via phone call or Zoom. You can contact the Student Success Specialist team at OLStudentSuccess@algonquincollege.com to book an appointment. Please note that individual orientation appointments will only be available to book after the first day of term, as you will not have access to your online courses prior to the term start date.
Getting Started with Brightspace
Most AC Online courses will use a learning management system called Brightspace. All students using Brightspace will have access to the Brightspace Essentials course – look for it on your Brightspace home page! This course provides tutorials on how to navigate Brightspace as well as how to participate in discussion forums, submit assignments, and complete online quizzes. Proper use and understanding of Brightspace will be essential to your success in all your online courses, so please take some time to review the Brightspace Essentials course.
