Students learn about the structure of municipal governments and their power to enact bylaws and the importance of bylaws. A number of different municipal statutes are studied, such as zoning bylaws, animal control bylaws and licensing. Students also learn about preparing for court in regard to offences against municipal codes and the importance of good note-taking. Today's bylaw enforcement officer must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of municipal government and its role in society. This course provides the student with a clear understanding of how municipal bylaws are generated, passed and enforced by utilizing different provincial statutes and showing the student the importance of municipal investigations.
