This course is part of the following part-time on campus and/or online program(s):
Through two group projects the student becomes familiar with layout and design, detailed cutting lists, jig and template construction and traditional methods of furniture construction. Students are involved in the production of an oak double pedestal roll-top desk and a cherry or walnut hall table with curved sides, a drawer and incised tapered legs. The theoretical portion of the class covers terminology, creating a detailed cutting list and practical construction methods. Veneered composition panels are used, as well as solid lumber. Projects are raffled at the end of the course and winners pay material costs.
