Clinical Dental Assisting Level II Laboratory/Clinical

Course: DEN5667

Upon successful completion of the comprehensive theory examination in DEN5666 Dental Assisting Level II Clinical Theory (a prerequisite of this course), participate in preclinical and clinical learning activities which allow skill development in the application and removal of dental dam; alginate impressions; placement of liners, bases, matrices and wedges; coronal polishing; application of anti-cariogenic and desensitizing agents; topical anesthetic; etching agents; the placement of pit and fissure sealants; and the removal of surgical sutures. These skills will be applied at the preclinical level on manikins and peers followed by clinical application in the client care setting. Students work with their clients in preparing individualized care plans and work collaboratively with registered dentists and dental hygienists to provide comprehensive care.
