This course is part of the following part-time on campus and/or online program(s):
Develop your funiture-building skills with a classic chair project, using a New England design that dates back to 1770. Students select and work with different woods and perform bending and laminating, carving, drilling, dowel gluing and wedging procedures, using hand tools. The spindles, arms and crest rail are ash while the seat is clear Eastern white pine and the legs and stretcher rails are maple. All materials are provided including spindles that are locally made, straight-grain selected, sawn (not riven), kiln-dried and pre-turned.
