Data Modelling and Relational Database Design

The use of Entity Relationship Modelling is examined in detail, through many real life examples, practical business problems and solutions. After several iterations, the ER model captures the data requirements and business rules and forms a sound basis for the initial design of a relational database. The design process and considerations for creating a normalized, stable, maintainable and well-defined relational database, such as Oracle 11g, are also covered.
Applicants must have post secondary education or equivalent work experience and fundamental skills to navigate comfortably through a computing environment. Students will be expected to use command line interface in this program.
