Furniture Finishes and Repair
The finishing and restoration of furniture is an essential aspect in creating beautiful and long-lasting pieces. Students are provided with wood panels to practise preparing surfaces, selecting products and applying finishes, such as stain, fillers, varnishes, oils and glazes. Students also practise touch-up, shading and toning techniques. Touch-up and repair methodologies are covered so that students can identify damage and apply appropriate skills and techniques to restore the structural integrity and finish of the original furniture piece. Students learn to replace and repair broken components, cracks, and shrinkage splits, as well as touch-up scratches, dents and water/heat marks. All material costs are included in the course fee.
All sections for this course are in progress.
