Introduction to Emerging Educational Technologies

Web-based educational technology is rapidly changing student experiences and educational pedagogy. Learners explore the vast range of web-based educational technologies including learning management systems, collaborative tools, open education resources (OER), adaptive learning technologies, social media and games. Learners sample the many technologies available to educators and students for both formal and informal learning. Through online communities and 3D virtual environments, learners experience new ways to collaborate and discover new educational technologies. The importance of maintaining personal currency, such as through participating in a community of practice, is emphasized.
