Nursing Considerations for the Complex Surgical Patient

Students explore the increasingly complex health problems experienced by patients with special needs and the acutely ill patient in a critical care environment. The registered nurse utilizes research, theory, and best practice guidelines to develop knowledge in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to this unique population of patients. Increasingly complex situations involving geriatric and pediatric populations, cardio-respiratory complications, the surgical oncology patient, haematological and shock states are some of the many issues that are explored.
Notes
This is a hybrid course (a combination of on campus and online). Students will be on campus for class every two weeks.
