Occupation-Specific Language Training (OSLT) for Business Sector

Students focus on the language and socio-cultural communication requirements for working in business careers related to accounting/finance, entrepreneurship, sales and marketing. Appropriate for students at the mid- to high intermediate language level (CLB 6 to 10), this course addresses the language and communication skills needed to collect and share information with others; communicate using technology such as telephone and email; manage interactions with colleagues, clients and supervisors; introduce oneself in work-related situations; undertake employment and work-related interviews; and network effectively. Sector background knowledge and culture relevant to the workplace context in Ontario are explicitly addressed in communication practice tasks.
