Perioperative Patient Care for RPN

This course is part of the following part-time on campus and/or online program(s):

Students learn the aspects of patient care involved in perioperative care plans that include pre-operative assessment and intraoperative planning for surgical intervention. Students are introduced to safe, responsible practices of equipment, supply handling and the role of the perioperative nurse in assisting with anaesthesia. Implementation and documentation of care are discussed. Anaesthetic agents, medications, monitoring, intubation, and types of anaesthetic interventions and complications are reviewed, as well as patient hand-off in the immediate post-operative period.


This is a hybrid course (a combination of on campus and online).
