Social Media Risk Management

Course: COM1013

In the age of social media, communicators need to be ready to deal with crises at faster speeds than ever before. Learners explore topics covering internal and external crises, dealing with an unexpected crisis, using appropriate language in a crisis, and planning for a crisis. Using real-world case studies, learners critique steps taken to handle crises, prepare communications to be used in a crisis situation and create a social media crisis plan for a community organization. In addition, learners use their crisis communications skills to respond to a crisis scenario, providing content for networks appropriate to their audience.
