The Art of Barista
This course is designed to teach barista basic and advanced skills, and promote the coffee of Costa Rica. Each course offering will be four weeks in duration and incorporate two weeks of curriculum delivery at Algonquin College School of Hospitality and Tourism followed by two weeks of curriculum delivery and field placement at a plantation in Costa Rica. Modules delivered at Algonquin College include: Coffee Brewing Techniques; Espresso Machines - Mill and Cleaning; Espresso Technique; Foaming Technique; Supervised Practice. Modules delivered onsite at a plantation in Costa Rica include: Agricultural Management, Benefit And Varieties Of Coffee In Costa Rica; Introduction To Coffee Roasting And Roasting Profile; Tasting Protocol(demonstration and practice); History Of Coffee And Eight Coffee Producing Regions In Costa Rica; Plantation/Harvest Field Placement.
