Understanding Palliative Care from Within
This course is specially designed to enhance skills and understanding regarding palliative care. It provides an overview of palliative care with respect to philosophy, approaches and trends, the new Canadian norms for palliative care and delivery models. Participants explore their own personal beliefs, attitudes and reactions related to death, aging, illness and grieving. This course offers current concepts of the grief process and end of life issues for care of the resident. Communication techniques with families, residents and other team members are a focus. The grit and grace of being a caregiver is examined with helpful tips for stress management for the participant and their resident and family. This course is an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally in the above areas of study.
