Students Partner with The Ottawa Police Service to Take Down Violence Against Women

Untitled-1

For the fifth year, Algonquin public relations and video production students have dedicated the beginning of March to helping the Ottawa Police Service raise awareness about violence against women. “This is a broad social issue that remains an epidemic,” said Stephen Heckbert, Coordinator of the public relations program. “This partnership with the Ottawa Police Service represents an excellent opportunity for students at the College to help make a difference in our community.”

Public relations students were divided into groups, paired with video production students and asked to create and promote a public service announcement video through social media. The video promotions will be ongoing until the end of this week and the video with the highest number of views will be used by the Ottawa Police Service in their next campaign regarding violence against women.
