Helping to Train Your Workforce for 1/3 of the Cost

There has never been a better time to invest in your workforce. If you are a private sector business, not-for-profit or association receiving less than 10 million dollars from the provincial government, the Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG) provides a lucrative opportunity to train employees at minimal cost.

Running until 2020, the grant provides approximately 192 million dollars annually, to employers to cover the cost of training their employees. As a training organization with 50 years’ experience developing and delivering professional training, Algonquin College Corporate Training (ACCT) is ready to help you take advantage of the many benefits provided through COGJ grants.

Some of the benefits to employers using the grant:

    • Up to 2/3 of the cost to a maximum of $10,000 of training per employee is covered by the grant.
    • $1000 extra if your participant was previously unemployed.
    • If your organization has under 50 employees, the employer may be eligible to pay only 17% of the total training cost as they have the option to contribute up to 50% of their required contribution in wages paid to training participants.
    • By bringing the trainer to the employer’s location, training is even more feasible since COJG does not cover  the transportation cost for employees.
    • 2 days is the average response time after submission of a completed application.
    • Participants have a full calendar year to complete their training.

Update – COJG has announced a new addition to the Job Grant!  In addition to $10,000 available training to current employees,  employers can now receive a training grant for new hires.  Up to $15,000 per person!!!

    Testimonial

In 2016 Ottawa Bluesfest took advantage of the Canada Ontario Job Grant to train 16 of its employees in preparation for the over 300,000 anticipated festival attendees.  Working with Algonquin College Corporate Training, Ottawa Bluesfest, identified two training courses: The Right F.I.T. (Formal Interviewing Techniques) and  Stress Management, Conflict Resolution and Effective Leadership.

“We chose to use Algonquin College based on the long term success they have shown in educating not only young people out of high school but also adults who are looking for job and career training both in their current organizations or when they are looking to switch careers. We also feel using a local organization is important for fostering relationships in our own community that we could use and take advantage of in the future.

What benefited us was giving our employees job and career-specific training on things and applications that affect our day-to-day business and operational needs. Algonquin was able to meet and exceed our desire to bring skills to our team members which had been identified by our staff as skills they were lacking but also skills that were relevant.”   –  Mike Rouleau, Director of Operations, Ottawa Bluesfest

“Working with Algonquin College on our annual staff training has made a significant difference in our company. From recommending a facilitator that completely fits our company culture, to meeting with us regularly to develop the content for these sessions, to working with us in applying for the Canada-Ontario Job Grant to offset the costs, we have been pleased every step of the way. Our training has focused on customer service, and the impact this has on the bottom line. As a direct result, our communication, team morale, and customer satisfaction have all improved. We’re thrilled with the results, and look forward to continuing our relationship with both Algonquin College and Sue Faubert well into the future!” – Stephanie Haw,  Amsted Design-Build  Home Renovations
