Build your knowledge of health & safety
Keeping people healthy and safe—There was a time when the health and safety of employees was not a great cause of concern to employers. Now with escalating insurance costs, increased employer accountability as a result of litigation, and the need to meet legislative requirements, employers need to equip their organizations with employees who are knowledgeable of their responsibilities.
It's not just human resource managers and health and safety officers who need to know what's required. If you are charged with overseeing the work of even one person in your organization, you should be aware of how to keep that person operating safely and securely in his or her job.
We invite you to hear more on the topic from Algonquin's "Capital Educator of the Year," Mike Gillissie, on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mike will speak about occupational health and safety requirements––legislation, participation on occupational health and safety committees, and the importance of conducting health and safety audits within your organization.
