Bachelor of Applied Arts - Interior Design

eSCM professionals at work

Algonquin College is one of only two colleges in Ontario that have been granted the right to offer the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts – Interior Design. Developed in response to high market demand and economic forecasts that indicate a huge ongoing need for professional interior designers, graduates are in demand across Canada and around the world. Algonquin’s Interior Design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) (formerly FIDER) and conforms to industry standards as set out by official interior design professional bodies. Graduates place well in ARIDO (Association for Interior Designs of Ontario) award
competitions, having won first place in 2004 and 2005, placing third in 2006 and second in 2007. Over the past four years, Algonquin College has consistently placed among the top three of the 11 schools who compete for this award.

As a student in this program, you are trained to identify and solve complex design problems so that you may positively affect the world in which we live. The program’s unique laptop component provides you with the opportunity to gain relevant expertise using the latest software in use by the professional design industry. The program also features the longest co-op opportunity available (20 weeks, offered at the end of your fourth year), providing you with comprehensive work experience that gives you a real “foot in the door” and the skills you need to succeed. For many students, co-op work terms often lead to immediate entry into full-time employment upon graduation.
