Examination - Out of Town Students

For students outside of the Ottawa area, arrangements are made by the student to write at a post-secondary institution. If one is not in a reasonable proximity, you may write at an educational institution such as a high school, under the supervision of a full-time professor, teacher, or appropriate designate. Colleges and universities often have Test Centres where they proctor exams on a regular basis. (We have contacts at a number of colleges in Ontario who proctor for us. Approximately 3 weeks before you are ready to write, send an e-mail to deexams@algonquincollege.com to get the contact number for the college in your area.)

When selecting a proctor, the following criteria must be met:

  • Proctors must be educational or human resource professionals, including (but not limited to) professors, librarians, and their designates.
  • To avoid conflict of interest concerns, the proctor may not be a relative, co-worker (including immediate supervisor), neighbor, friend, or person with the same address as the student. Proctors also may not be Algonquin College students.
  • If the above criteria can not be met, the student should contact the Distance Education department at 1-888-684-4444 ext. 5206 to discuss other options.
  • Any fees charged by a proctor are the responsibility of the student.

If there are no educational institutions in your area, contact deexams@algonquincollege.com or by calling (613) 727-4723 ext. 5206 or 1-888-684-4444 ext. 5206.

When you have found an appropriate proctor for your exam, and met all the requirements, you can fill out the proctored exam form below. Once submitted, it will automatically send the information to deexams@algonquincollege.com by e-mail.

This information is required 3 weeks before you wish to write the exam. The exam will then be sent to the proctor in time for you to write on the pre-arranged date. A package with instructions for them as well as yourself will be sent to the proctor. Please note that your exam must be written within one week after your course end date.
