POLICE FOUNDATIONS

PLEASE NOTE:  All but two (2) courses for the two-year Police Foundations Diploma Program are offered through Distance Education.  The three remaining courses, PFP4091 and PFP4097 will have to be completed on campus at Algonquin College.

This diploma program (two-year day program) is the first step in a career in policing in Ontario.  Police Foundations is of interest to those who aspire to become police constables.  The program is designed to give students a broad education in human relations skills and the interpretations of social interaction.  The program includes the study of police powers and procedures, community policing, investigation processes, race relations, professional ethics and communication.

It is recommended that students take courses in a progressive manner according to level.

You will also have to complete one (1) General Education Elective. Students should check with their program coordinator before enrolling in any General Education Elective courses offered through Distance Education.
