My first experience with computers was at Arizona State University in 1967, Department
of Electrical Engineering. I have been messing around with them ever since. I
discovered the Internet as a fledgling graduate student in 1985. I am now involved
mostly with research and development in technology and media. I also help in promoting
Information Technology around the Asia Pacific region and when I can, the Caribbean.
Hometown:
Cleveland Heights, Ohio - After graduating from high school I moved
to Phoenix, Arizona. During the late 60's I spent time in San Francisco (yes,
I did live in the Haight) , San Jose, and Los Angeles. I returned to Southington,
Ohio briefly (claim to fame: Paul Newman raced at the near-by Nelson's Ledges
Speedway) before moving to Ottawa, Ontario in 1974.
Post-secondary Education:
1966 - 1970 Arizona
State University Bachelor of Science - Started off in
Electrical Engineering then switched to Sociology. I first
learned about computers here as well as how to get lost in the
Superstition Mountains. Arizona is hot, but its a dry heat.
1972 - 1974Kent State University Master of Education-
I arrived here a year after the infamous shootings. Really, a beautiful campus
and the only other place outside Ottawa (that I know of) that has black squirrels.(several
locations around the world have now been added to my black squirrel list thanks
to feedback from fellow webnauts!)
1989 - 1991University of Ottawa Doctorate in Philosophy Education - My dissertation
examined conflict resolution between principals and teachers. I
learned how to do good research, became a Lisrelite (someone who
uses LISREL a software program for computing linear structured
equations), and had the best educational experience of my life. I
also taught graduate courses there from time to time.
