As a way to jumpstart the new academic year, a team-based employee challenge is organized every September.

The theme of the challenge changes every year.

2009

The Fall 2009 challenge required creativity, ingenuity , initiative and cans -- lots and lots of cans !! Participants were asked to collect cans and non-perishable items and to create from them a work of Can Art. All that was collected was donated to the Ottawa, Pembroke and Perth food banks.

2008

For Fall, 2008 it was Enviro , a bingo-like activity that challenged Algonquin employees to adopt environmentally friendly practices for the duration of the contest.

2007

Fall 2007, the challenge was "Are You Smarter Than a College Student" which tested our knowledge of the College.

2006

Fall 2006 kick started the yearly Algonquin College challenge tradition with "Walk Around the World" . This initiative encouraged College employees to get walking and collectively track the number of steps taken over the challenge period. The team that had collectively walked the distance equivalent to walking around the world won the Challenge
