Orientation to Teaching at the College - Full-time Faculty

Full-Time Faculty

New full-time faculty need to participate in five primary orientation activities:

(1) College Orientation

(2) Departmental Orientation

(3) Teaching @ Algonquin
These sessions take place typically during August and September of the school year. They provide an introduction to the learning and teaching environment at Algonquin.

(4) Focus on Learning (FOL) (Parts I and II)
This program is organized by a committee of teachers from Eastern Region colleges. All new faculty from these colleges are invited to attend. It involves attending Part I in August and Part II the spring of the following year. Find out more about FOL.

Please Note: It is a condition of employment for new full-time faculty to participate in this program.

(5) Mentoring Program
Faculty who are new to Algonquin College can be paired up with an experienced mentor. The mentorships are assigned as part of the orientation process.

If you are interested in being assigned to a mentor or being a mentor, please contact

Dianne Bloor (ext. 5356) (Lead Mentor)

Be sure to view the Faculty Handbook as well. This resource provides a helpful review of important resources and services available for you at Algonquin College.
