Performance Institute
Each fall and winter, the Performance Institute provides performance training (body language and voicing) and many other tips and tricks in a one-semester package, two hours per week, Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00p.m. To find out more about the Performance Institute, please visit the web site, (click link above). If you would like to be part of this dynamic professional development opportunity, talk to your manager about the possibility of participating.
TALL (Teaching Adult Lifelong Learners)
If you are currently an adult educator wanting to augment your teaching skills, then you may want to consider the Teaching Adult Lifelong Learners (TALL) certificate program. The TALL Program is designed with the needs of busy College teachers in mind. The program is delivered in a hybrid format using a combination of workshops and online learning experiences.
Leadership Development Program
In this interactive professional development program, participants practice and apply the skills needed in order to achieve team effectiveness and success. The program is designed to encourage on-going application and reinforcement of learning and techniques between sessions. Please indicate your interest in participating in this program to your immediate Manager/Chair.
These workshops are designed to provide meaningful and useful professional development in response to the interests and challenges identified by College administrators across the province. Workshop topics include strategic planning, conflict management, leadership models, mentoring others, building and working with effective teams. Information about these workshops will be posted as they are scheduled.
Eastern Region College Committee on Human Resources Development
This committee is made up of six eastern region colleges: Algonquin, Durham, Fleming, La Cité Collegial, Loyalist and St. Lawrence. It coordinates a variety of professional development and orientation activities including the programs listed below.
Focus on Learning
Focus on Learning (FOL) orients new full-time faculty to teaching within the College system. New professors from all of the Eastern Region colleges participate in this two-part program.Celebrating Great Teaching Retreat
Held every two years, this Eastern Region program brings College professors together to explore new ideas, share teaching tips and experiences and showcase best practices.Aligning and Building Curriculum
This Eastern Region program helps participants to develop skills to take a leadership role in program review and new program development at their colleges.
Faculty Cyber Connections
This online program allows faculty to share teaching tips with colleagues from other colleges. It is comprised of four focused, practical, interactive learning modules which can be completed in six - eight hours.Support Staff Cyber Connections (Pilot)
This online PD program allows support staff to share their experiences and viewpoints while learning in a collaborative and interactive environment with their Eastern Region colleagues.
In-Service Teacher Training Program (ISTTP)
This program is designed for teachers in Ontario's community colleges that offered in a distance delivery mode by St. Clair College. This program is recognized in the faculty contract and will be of particular interest to teachers who do not have an honours degree and who want an alternative route to access higher levels on the salary scale.
"Employees who have 15 years or more of service and whose maximum step is currently below the maximum on the salary schedule and who enroll and participate in the program shall receive (once only) an immediate one step salary progression, to a maximum of the salary schedule, and shall maintain that Step upon maintaining satisfactory performance in the program".
