As one of the largest Colleges in Ontario, Algonquin College is committed to doing its part to ensure the Province has the skilled workforce required to grow our economy and to address the needs of the communities it serves.

Today’s knowledge economy sustains itself on the development of a skilled and motivated workforce. Last fall, Algonquin College was proud to welcome over 7,400 new students. Unfortunately, the College can accommodate only one-sixth of the applications it receives. With a looming shortage of skilled workers on the horizon, Algonquin College believes the solution lay in finding more spaces for the 32,000 qualified applicants eager for a college education but for whom there is not enough capacity. 

In addition to increasing the College’s capacity by up to 3,000 student spaces in total, each expansion proposal embeds even more deeply Algonquin’s commitment to the concept of active learning. Aimed at increasing the depth of learning, the retention of understanding and the development of learning skills, our dual commitment to the application of theory and practice is the root of Algonquin College’s success.
