Fall Bursaries

The Fall 2023 Bursary Application is now closed. Students will be notified the week of October 30th if they are eligible for a Fall Bursary. Should you have any questions please email studentawards@algonquincollege.com.


Only registered students for the Fall term can apply online through the ACSIS, Bursary Portal (with the exception of the College and Institutes Canada (CICan) Paul and Gerri Charrette Bursary Program). For more information please email studentawards@algonquincollege.com.


Funds for bursaries marked with an asterisk are matched through the Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS). To be eligible, you must be a Canadian Citizen and have been a resident of Ontario for at least 12 consecutive months, and must not have attended full-time post-secondary studies in the year prior to submitting your bursary application.

AC Rainbow Bursary

Awarded to 2SLGBTQ+ students enrolled at the Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke, or Online Campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who identify as Black, Indigenous, disabled, trans, and/or non-binary.

Adamson Associates Architects Bursary

Adamson Architects Associates has established the Adamson Architects Bursary to support Indigenous Students enrolled in either the Architect Technician or the Architect Technology Program offered through the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence.

The ADGA Bursary

The ADGA Bursary provides ten bursaries per year to students enrolled in any School of Advanced Technology program. Priority is given to Indigenous and or female students.

Algonquin College Alumni and Friends Network Bursary*

Awarded to students related to an alumnus of Algonquin College who can demonstrate financial need.

Algonquin College Student Assistance Bursary

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need.

Algonquin College Students’ Association Jack Doyle Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need and represent the Students’ Association mission to inspire student success. Current Students’ Association Board Members are not eligible.

Audrey Lawrence AC Online Bursary

Awarded to 2 full-time and 3 part-time students enrolled at the Algonquin Online campus who can demonstrate financial need. One of the bursaries will include preference for an Indigenous student. The generosity of Audrey Lawrence supports the growing need for online program offerings. Her leadership serves to inspire others; helping support flexible learning environments and digital access to education.

Barbara Ingram, Janet W. McCarthy, & W.J.P. Robertson Memorial Bursary

Awarded to physically disabled students entering first year of a full-time program, graduating from a high school in Ottawa, and who can demonstrate financial need.

Benjamin M. Schlussel Supply Chain Bursary

In honour and memory of Ben Schlussel, who passed away on September 2, 2021, the board of directors of the former APICS Ottawa Chapter has established the Benjamin M. Schlussel Supply Chain Bursary.

As an active member of APICS for more than 40 years, Ben worked tirelessly educating and guiding multiple generations of material planners and process managers. The Benjamin M. Schlussel Supply Chain Bursary will continue Ben’s spirit of giving back by annually supporting a student in the third year of the Bachelor of Commerce (e-Supply Chain Management) program based on financial need.

Bradley O’Neil Memorial Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled at the Ottawa campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Brittaney Fraser-McCann Bursary

The Brittaney Fraser-McCann Bursary was established in memory of Brittaney Fraser-McCann. Brittaney was a graduate of the two-year Practical Nursing program at the Pembroke Campus. She passed away on December 17th, 2021 after complications during her third endovascular coiling procedure to repair a brain aneurysm. She was 33. To honor Brittaney and her love of nursing and medical aesthetics, this bursary was created to support students as they strive to achieve their own nursing dream. The Bursary is awarded to one student enrolled in either the Practical Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in their second year who can demonstrate financial need. The Bursary is open to students enrolled at the Pembroke Campus, with first preference to a single parent.

Burns Connor Bursary

The Burns Connor Bursary is awarded to a student in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of the Bachelor of Interior Design program at the Ottawa Campus, based on financial need.

The Canadian and Turkish Women’s Association of Ottawa Bursary

Awarded to students enrolled at the Ottawa, Perth, or Pembroke campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to female students who lead a single-parent household.

Canadian Federation of University Women – Nepean Bursary

Awarded to an Indigenous female student enrolled at the Ottawa Campus who can demonstrate financial need.

The CBET Bursary

Awarded to student(s) in their 2nd year of study in any diploma, advanced diploma or degree program at the Ottawa Campus. Special consideration given to students who are Bangladeshi and/or Indigenous. The CBET Bursary has been established through the generosity of the Canada Bangladesh Education Trust for students in financial need.

CIBC Bursary

The CIBC Diversity Bursary is an entrance bursary for students in the following Business Administration programs:

  • Accounting, Finance
  • Marketing
  • International Business
  • Human Resources

This bursary is for students who self-identify as Black, Indigenous and/or have a physical or learning disability who can demonstrate financial need.

College and Institutes Canada (CICan) Bird Construction Inc. and Paul Charette Bursary Program

Awarded to full-time Indigenous students enrolled in their first or second year at all campuses who demonstrate financial need and face challenges and barriers to participating in post-secondary education. Bursary in the amount of $2500 will be disbursed directly to the student.
Application Deadline: September 30, 2022 @ 11:59 pm

College and Institutes Canada (CICan) Paul and Gerri Charrette Bursary Program

Awarded to full-time students enrolled in their first year at all campuses who demonstrate financial need and face challenges and barriers to participating in post-secondary education. Bursaries will be disbursed directly to the student by semester, $2500 in the first semester and $2500 in the second semester.

Darryl Christopher Socha Bursary

Awarded to mature indigenous students enrolled in any program at the Ottawa, Pembroke or Perth campuses who can demonstrate financial challenges.

Dr. Marilyn Daryawish Education Bursary

Awarded to female immigrant or refugee students who can demonstrate financial need.

Elizabeth Kelly Library Foundation Bursary

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need, who are residents of Lanark County, and are enrolled in any program at Algonquin College.

Frank and Maria Hatz Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need with special consideration given to current or past staff of the Carleton Lodge (a City of Ottawa Long Term Care Home) or children of current or past staff of Carleton Lodge.

The GDI Bursary

The GDI Bursary is to be awarded to (5) five students enrolled in any program enrolled atany campus at Algonquin College. Each student is to receive $1,000.
The Bursary is open to Canadian citizens, landed immigrants, permanent residents, or protected persons.

In any year in which there is no qualified applicant, the funds shall be accumulated and awarded in the subsequent year, thereby increasing the number of recipients of the Bursary in the subsequent year. Details about the Bursary will be listed in the appropriate Financial Aid and Student Awards Office communications and on the College website.

George Joseph Cooper Bursary

Awarded to first-year full-time students who graduated from a high school in the Ottawa area, and who can demonstrate both financial need and academic achievement.

Grand & Toy Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need.

Grapes for Humanity Bursary

The Grapes for Humanity Bursary has been established to provide five (5) bursaries of for students with demonstrated financial need who identify as BIPOC. The Bursary will be awarded to students in their second level of study in the Sommelier or Bartending program.

The Hasan Ural Memorial Bursary for PSWs

Awarded to a student in the Personal Support Worker Program, based on financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who self identify an interest in palliative care. The Bursary recipient will be offered an opportunity to apply for a work placement in palliative care at Hospice Care Ottawa. The bursary is in memory of Hasan Ural, Professor Emeritus, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Ottawa, and in gratitude to the PSWs at the Hospice Care Ottawa for their compassionate palliative care.

Heart and Crown Irish Pubs Bursary

Awarded to four (4) students in their 2nd year of the following programs, based on financial need: 2 students in the 2nd year of the Culinary Management Program, 2 students in the 2nd year in the Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management Program.

Each student will receive $750. The Bursaries are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, landed immigrants, and protected persons.

The HOPE Bursary for Refugee Women

The HOPE Bursary for Refugee Women will be awarded annually to a 2nd or 3rd year female student in a diploma program who is – in order of preference – a convention refugee, a protected person, or a permanent resident who was a refugee/protected person, who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing. In the first year (2022) preference is for the bursary to be given to a female student from Afghanistan.

If in any year there is no female student that fits the above criteria, then the bursary may be given to a male student who is a convention refugee, protected person, or a permanent resident who was a refugee/protected person.

The Bursary is to be disbursed in the Fall term and is open to a student enrolled at any campus and in any diploma program.

I.O.D.E. Lorraine Chapter Bursary

Awarded to mature female students who can demonstrate financial need.

Jim and Penny Reklitis Bursary

Awarded annually to full-time students enrolled at the Ottawa campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Johnson Inc. Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled at the Ottawa, Perth, or Pembroke campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to students related to alumni.

Kildonan Education Bursary

Awarded to first-year full-time students who graduated from a high school in the National Capital Region and who can demonstrate financial need.

Kiwanis Club of Manotick Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need with special consideration given to students who reside in Manotick or the surrounding area.

Les Dames d’Escoffier Ontario Chapter Bursary

The Les Dames d’Escoffier Ontario Chapter Bursary has been established to support two (2) female students with demonstrated financial need who identify as BIPOC. The Bursary will be awarded to one (1) student in their second level of study in the Sommelier or Bartending program and one (1) student in their second level of study in the Culinary Skills program or second year of Culinary Management program at any campus where the program is offered.

Live.Learn.Educate. Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need with special consideration given to students who identify as Black.

Masonic Foundation of Ontario Bursary

Awarded to students enrolled in a two-year diploma program who can demonstrate financial need.

Lynn T. Murphy Bursary

This Bursary will be given annually to one student that self identifies as belonging to the LGBTQ2S community and who is a student at the Pembroke Campus. The Bursary will be available to both domestic and international students.

Michelle Valberg-Project North Bursary*

Awarded to students at the Ottawa campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to Inuit students.

Military Families Fund – Sens Foundation Bursary*

Awarded to military members, partners of military members and /or children of military members who can demonstrate financial need.

MNO Métis Student Bursary Program*

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Métis citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Applicants will be required to consent to a citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards. Application deadline: December 31, 2023 @ 11:59 pm

Ontario First Generation Bursary

Awarded to students who are the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary studies and have been a resident of Ontario for at least 12 consecutive months.

Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled at the Ottawa campus who can demonstrate financial need.

PCL Constructors DARE6 Bursary

The Bursary is to be awarded to students enrolled in any of the following programs.

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Office Administration General
  • Office Administration Executive
  • Business

Patricia Stanish Horticulture and Landscape Technician Bursary

The Patricia Stanish Horticulture and Landscape Technician Bursary will be awarded to one female student, enrolled full time in the Horticulture Industries program, who has successfully completed the first term of the program and demonstrates financial need, as per Algonquin College criteria.

President Cheryl Jensen – Changing Lives Bursary

Awarded to full-time students entering their first year of study at the Ottawa, Perth or Pembroke campuses who can demonstrate financial need. In honour and recognition of President Jensen’s exemplary leadership as former President and Chief Executive Officer of Algonquin College, a bursary has been established to acknowledge the President’s dedication to students, and the substantial growth of the College during the President’s tenure.

Raymonde Hanson Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in a two or three-year program who can demonstrate financial need.

Richard Patten Aboriginal Bursary*

Awarded to Indigenous students enrolled at the Ottawa campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Rossmann Architecture Bursary

This Bursary is for any students enrolled in their final year in either the Architectural Technician or the Architectural Technology Program at all campuses where the program is offered. The bursary is based on demonstrated financial need as set out by Policy SA05.

Rotary Club of Kanata Bursary*

Awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to students living in West Carleton, Stittsville, Kanata or Goulburn.

Seedlings for Students Bursary

Awarded to sole-support parent students at any campus who can demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to a female student.

The Semira Saba Kifle Practical Nursing Bursary

The Semira Saba Kifle Practical Nursing Bursary will be awarded to an incoming student enrolled in the (1st) first semester of the Practical Nursing program, based on financial need. Preference is for the bursary to be awarded to 1) someone who works in the health care field and wants to upgrade their skills (e.g. PSW/allied health) or 2) a mature student.
This bursary is in honour of Semira Saba Kifle who, with four children at home, returned to school to upgrade her skills from a PSW to RPN.

University Women Helping Afghan Women Legacy Bursary

The University Women Helping Afghan Women Legacy Bursary will be awarded annually to a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year female Afghan student enrolled in any diploma or degree program who is – in order of preference – a convention refugee, a protected person, a permanent resident or Canadian citizen who was a refugee/protected person, and who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing.
